More Details

DHADAK is a powerful broad-spectrum insecticide manufactured by HPM India.1 It contains two active ingredients for a dual mode of action against a wide range of pests:

  • Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG: A semi-synthetic avermectin insecticide derived from soil bacteria. It disrupts the nervous system of insects.2

  • Chlorantraniliprole 10% SG: An anthranilic diamide insecticide that activates ryanodine receptors, causing muscle paralysis in insects.3

This combination makes DHADAK a highly effective solution for controlling lepidopteran pests (caterpillars, moths, butterflies) in various crops, especially cotton, and vegetables.

Key features and benefits:

  • Broad-spectrum activity: DHADAK effectively controls a wide range of lepidopteran pests, including:

    • Helicoverpa armigera (cotton bollworm)

    • Spodoptera litura (tobacco cutworm)

    • Pectinophora gossypiella (pink bollworm)

    • Earias spp. (spotted bollworm)

    • Fruit borers in vegetables

  • Dual mode of action: The combination of Emamectin Benzoate and Chlorantraniliprole offers two different ways to kill pests, reducing the likelihood of resistance development.

  • Translaminar action: It penetrates the leaf tissue, providing protection on both sides of the leaves.

  • Systemic and contact action: Emamectin Benzoate is systemic, moving within the plant, while Chlorantraniliprole acts primarily through contact and ingestion. This provides both internal and external protection.

  • Long-lasting residual control: DHADAK offers extended protection, reducing the frequency of applications.

  • Ovicidal and larvicidal activity: It effectively controls both eggs and larvae of target pests.

  • Safe for beneficial insects: It has minimal impact on beneficial insects like bees and predators.

Mode of action:

  • Emamectin Benzoate: Disrupts the nervous system of insects by stimulating the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), leading to paralysis and death.4

  • Chlorantraniliprole: Activates ryanodine receptors in insect muscles, causing uncontrolled calcium release and leading to muscle paralysis and death.5

Recommended crops:

DHADAK is particularly effective on:

  • Cotton

  • Vegetables (tomato, brinjal, okra, etc.)

  • Other crops infested with lepidopteran pests

Application:

DHADAK is a soluble granule (SG) formulation. It should be dissolved in water according to the recommended dosage and applied as a foliar spray. Ensure thorough coverage of the crop for optimal results. Always refer to the product label for specific instructions.

Safety precautions:

  • Always wear protective clothing, including gloves and a mask, when handling DHADAK.

  • Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

  • Keep out of reach of children and animals.

  • Do not apply near water bodies to prevent contamination.

  • Follow the recommended waiting period between application and harvest.

Important Note:

Always follow the recommended dosage and application instructions provided on the product label. For specific queries or concerns, consult an agricultural expert or contact HPM India directly.
